Beardtongue Elegy
Beardtongue flowers, or Penstemon, have a distinct appearance, which inspired Dharshi to create this artwork. Its tubular flowers, which take on a trumpet-like form, resemble tongues, thus the name beardtongue. These flowers grow prolifically in Dharshi's garden and are a constant source of inspiration for her art. They lend the fine form of the leaves and flowers and the variety of coloured pigments embedded in the canvas through the process Dharshi uses called eco printing.
The painting was created on a canvas of eco-printed hemp linen using a subtle variety of flower petals and berries to create the look of this organic earth background.
