Windflower Poem No.3

Windflower Poem No.3

Windflowers, also known as anemones, are rich with symbolism across various cultures that Dharshi admires and relates to.

In Greek mythology, the anemone is associated with the goddess of love, Aphrodite. In the Christian tradition, the windflower symbolises Christ's blood or the Virgin Mary's sorrow. While in Japan, windflowers represent the fragility of life and the transience of human existence.

Lately, Dharshi has been revisiting her studies as a history major at the University to learn more about Native American culture. Did you know Native American tribes consider windflowers a symbol of protection, warding off evil spirits and bringing good fortune? Overall, this painting could bring beauty to the home and be something to ponder or be inspired by the underlying meaning behind the piece.

As a parting note, white Windflowers are said to embody purity and innocence the opposite of those who are corrupt and only interested in material gain, fame, and power. Dharshi added the stems of red to suggest that such innoncenece is the life blood that keeps the heart alight and strong!
