It is a endangered species of orchid found in Western Australia, and is an important part of Aboriginal folklore in the region. To the Noongar people of Southwest Western Australia, the orchid is associated with the creation of the forests and the trees. The orchid's delicate and intricate flowers are seen as a symbol of beauty and fragility. For the Yamatji people of Midwest Western Australia the orchid is associated with the spirit world and is believed to have helped create the rivers and waterways of the region.
