Mother Earth
"Mother Earth" is an eco print and eco dye painting that has been minimally and subtly enhanced with soft pastels to retain the beauty and natural textural effects is created using a multi-step & time consuming process.
The materials used include locally sourced avocado pits, which serve as dye, and thousands of fuchsia-colored crepe myrtle petals collected from Dharshi's backyard garden. Additionally, the herb tansy is included for its subtly delicate beauty as well as Biden flowers for its rich pigment. The fuchsia flowers create an eco print on the canvas that results in a deep blue pigment, forming a soft, cloud-like contrast with the avocado dye.
This canvas was created through a lengthy four-step process: first, the scouring; then, the eco dyeing in a pot; followed by eco printing using a steam process in a tub; and finally, it is embellished by hand with soft pastels.
This piece is one of Dharshi's largest canvases to date, spanning an impressive 1900 x 1210 mm.
