Windflower Poem No.2
  • Windflower Poem No.2

Windflowers Poem No.2 mixed media eco print painting by Dharshi de Silva at Melbourne’s Hoo Gallery.

Windflowers, also known as anemones, are rich with symbolism across various cultures that Dharshi admires and relates to.

In Greek mythology, the anemone is associated with the goddess of love, Aphrodite. In the Christian tradition, the windflower symbolises Christ's blood or the Virgin Mary's sorrow. While in Japan, windflowers represent the fragility of life and the transience of human existence.

Lately, Dharshi has been revisiting her studies as a history major at the University to learn more about Native American culture. Did you know Native American tribes consider windflowers a symbol of protection, warding off evil spirits and bringing good fortune? Overall, this painting could bring beauty to the home and be something to ponder or be inspired by the underlying meaning behind the piece.

As a parting note, pink Windflowers are said to embody delicate love, appreciation, and gratitude!
